  Ricardo “Ricky” Olivarez

  President, CTO, and Security Lead

  Ricky is a firefighter/paramedic with 19 years of experience, and he still works full time on the line in the Los Angeles County area. He has led Digital EMS Solutions since its founding in 2012, building its ePCR around the paper patient care report crews already know, so an agency can go digital without retraining its medics on an unfamiliar layout.

  As President, CTO, and Security Lead of Digital EMS Solutions, he leads the company’s technology strategy and is responsible for application security, vulnerability management, incident response, and protecting the company’s products and infrastructure.

  Day to day, Ricky manages the company’s operations and product direction: setting the roadmap, overseeing software architecture and development, keeping the platform aligned with NEMSIS and HIPAA requirements, and making sure it stays available and secure for the agencies that depend on it around the clock. Because he charts on calls himself, product decisions start from what a crew actually needs at 3 a.m., not from a feature checklist.

  Van Mark Madrigal

  Chief Financial Officer

  Van is a firefighter with more than 30 years of experience. He rose through the ranks from firefighter/paramedic and retired at the rank of Assistant Chief, serving as incident commander on large-scale incidents along the way. He also serves on a credit union board of directors.

  As Chief Financial Officer of Digital EMS Solutions, Van oversees the company’s financial health: budgeting and forecasting, cash flow, financial controls and reporting, and the pricing and contract terms that agencies rely on. He brings an incident commander’s discipline to the role, planning ahead for what could go wrong so client agencies can count on Digital EMS for the long term.

  Mallory Olivarez

  Vice President

  Mallory is an emergency department registered nurse and serves as Vice President of Digital EMS Solutions. She has been part of the company since its founding in 2012, helping lead its operations, project management and relationships with client agencies.

  Working in the emergency department puts her on the receiving end of the EMS handoff, where prehospital reports are read under pressure. She also teaches nursing and allied health students how to document in electronic health records. That clinical and teaching perspective helps guide how Digital EMS designs its reports: clear for the hospital staff who rely on them, and approachable for the crews who write them.
